Daniel Vidal Toche

Daniel Vidal Toche is a Peruvian director, screenwriter, and film editor based in Madrid. His work explores the relationships between memory, revolution, and temporality, creating narratives in which past and present coexist and collide. Influenced by Walter Benjamin’s ideas on history and time, his cinema combines political and poetic inquiry with a strong formal exploration of image and temporal perception.

After studying Audiovisual Communication at the University of Lima and Creative Documentary Filmmaking at ECAM in Madrid, he has developed projects that engage with historical fractures, collective imaginaries, and the persistence of the past within the present.

His debut feature film, The Anatomy of the Horses, a co-production between Peru, Spain, Colombia, and France, was selected for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, screened at the Festival de Cine Europeo de Sevilla, and awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at the Torino Film Festival. At Seville, the film also received the awards for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction.
